I am a British national, who has a doctorate in comparative education from the Technical University of Dresden. I have worked on the link between research, policy and practice in many international contexts, including consultancy work for the OECD, UNESCO and the World Bank. I am currently senior researcher at FiBS-Research Institute for the Economics of Education and Social Affairs in Berlin, where I am particularly focussed on the social innovations, which can lead on from digital transformation. Currently, I am (amongst others) leading a project for the German government on the future of higher education and a member of the MIRVA project working on making recognition of skills and competencies visible and actionable through digital badge technologies. I love discussing new challenges with my international peers and hope to make German education and industry better through my work.

FiBS has been consulting on educational and socio-economic issues in Germany, Europe, and the world for 25 years. Informed by a variety of specializations, we examine educational sectors and their relationship to larger social issues, innovation, digitization, and labour market development. Currently, FiBS is focussing on how digitalisation can be used as an enabler to improve skills recognition and skills development, inter alia making non-formal and informal (on-the-job) learning visible and useful to firms and their staff.
